THIS TREE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING WRITTEN AND IS NOT COMPLETE THERE ARE OVER 1100 MEMBERS OF THE TREE.

The Knight family, so far, only goes back to circa 1770 and they come from Southampton and the surrounding area

John Knight of Havant married Phebe Carpenter at St Faith's Church Havant in 1770.

They had three children: Mary c 1771; John c 1775 and William c 1778 - 1849

William married Rachael Chrisdee (b 03 04 1785 - circa 1851) at Holy Trinity Church Millbrook Hants.

They had eight children:

Rachel 1809; Jabez James 1812 - 1867; William 1814; Hannah 1815; John 1820; Janet 1826; and Rebecca 1826.

Jabez married Harriet Harris 1814, daughter of William Harris and Sarah Street at All Saints Church Southampton circa 1835.


They had nine children:

William 1836; James 1837; Eliza Charlotte 1839; Sarah Ann 1841; Florence 1842; Henry 1850; Elizabeth 1851; Benjamin 1853 - 1908; Edwin 1858.

Benjamin married Julia Ruth Linney 1853, on 29 April 1872 at All Saints Southampton.

They had six children:

Herbert 1875; Benjamin Edwin 1876 - 1945; Julia Ada Louise 1877; Harriot 1879 - 1905; Elizabeth Agnes 1883.

Benjamin deserted his wife and children in 1883. He went to Wellington New Zealand, where he set up home with Ann Florence Trott, they had seven children.
There he died in 1908.

Benjamin Edwin married Margaret Cecilia Stokes ( 1808 - 1965), in 1908 at St Georges Church in the East London.

They had three children:

Benjamin 1909 - 2005; Eileen Margaret 1914 - 1914; Doris Margaret 1915 - 1990

LIVING PERSONS NOT LISTED

My maternal line goes back to 1567 and are all from Tysoe Warwickshire and the surrounding area

Johannes Hancox 1567 - 1663 Brailes, married Margaret Harris 1568 Brailes.

Only one child so far traced: Richard B Hancox 1596 1661 Brailes, married Elizabeth Beavington 1597 - 1627 Brailes

Only one child has been traced for them:

John A J Hancox 1640 - 1585 b Brailes died Banbury Oxen

John A J married Ann Winding. One child has been traced:

John Hancox 1640 - 1685 married Alice surname not known, no issue, Alice was denounced by two church wardens at St Lawrence Church, Oxhill Warks, as a popish recussant!

John next married Ann Hewins 1647 - 1724, on 1676 at St Lawrence Church Oxhill

There were two known issue:

Lydia Hancox 1676 - 1712; John Hancox

Lydia married William Savage in 1704 at Great Wolfold

There were three children from this union:

Joseph Hancox 1698 Elizabeth Savage 1706 and William Savage

Joseph married Joan Hitchcock 1699, in 1722 at Ilmington.

There were seven children from this marriage.

Thomas 1723 - 1779; Joseph 1725; Edward 1729 - 1815; Lydia 1731; Catherine 1733; John 1737; Joan 1740

Thomas married Mary Hemming 1723 - 1779 in 1747 at Tysoe

They had fifteen children:

John 1747 - 1831; Richard 1750 - 1791; Thomas 1751 - 1831; Mary 1752; Joseph 1753 - 1816; Edward 1755 - 1758; Emma 1756 - 1758; Elizabeth 1758; Nehemiah 1759 - 1835; Lydia 1761; James 1762; William 1764 - 1829; Samuel 1767 - 1833; Robert 1768 - 1858; Job 1770.

Nehemiah married Elizabeth Hunt 1775 - 1826, at Brailes in 1780.

There were eight children from this marriage.

Mary 1782; William 1783 - 1853; Charlotte 1790; Joseph 1794 - 1794; Thomas 1795; Lydia 1798; John 1798; Joseph 1800 - 1871.

William married Ann Brown 1796 - 1865 in Northampton

Only one child has been traced from this union

George 1829 - 1877 who married Elizabeth Steadman 1833

Two children have been traced from this marriage

Edward Aubrey 1862 and Frederick 1871.

Edward Aubrey married Eliza Baker 1859 - 1890

There were two children from this union

Edward William Richard 1883 - 1939 and Eliza 1884.

Edward Aubrey next married Clara Emma Griffin

No issue has been traced.

Edward Aubrey next married Ann Taylor-Davis

There were eight children from this marriage

Ann 1892; Nellie 1894; Beatrice 1895; George 1897; John 1898; Walter 1899; William 1900.

Edward William Richard married Dorothey Clara Rotton 1889 - 1978 in 1910 in Brighton.

They had eight children:

Ethel Ruby 1912 - 1981; Cyril Richard 1914; Grace 1915 - 2001; A living person; Aubra 1919 - 1992; Alfred 1923 - 1975; Malcolm 1927 - 1997; A living person.
